To My Bones music video analysis - Helen

The sound and the lyrics of this song are very significant more so than in most music videos. At the start of the video is it being implied that the music is coming from the radio but then when the artist hammers in the beat of the music the whole song is brought to life. The lyrics are also brought to life through the way they are presented for example when the lyrics 'cook her dinners' are on there is a clip of a dinner being eaten through stop start editing. There is a very heavy drum beat throughout the song, when this is in more focus there is a picture shown on the drummer drumming to the beat of the music, emphasising the importance of the upbeat song. Like this when the guitar is in emphasis there is a lot of pictures of that or a close up of the artist playing her instrument.

The camerawork is also another key importance of this music video. The camera follows the lyrics in a way for example when it is going along to wall. It is also zooms into the photographs on the wall allowing the singer to be shown while she is singing; it also zooms in on significant lyrics that are being shown through the pictures. On the chorus where Wallis is with her family and friends the camera zooms out to show the whole crowd having a good time emphasising the lyrics 'oh life I love you'

The mise en scene and theme of the video is 'home' as at the start it is printed in big letters this theme is followed through right until the end of the video. At the end of the video there is a big animated scene of a town in the background, and then a campfire which has already been showed in reality of what is shown at the chorus. The lyrics are also repeated 'my home, my home, my home' here the artist is using the power of three to tell the audience how important her home is to her. The costume the artist is wearing is 'indie' and 'gypsy' which ties in to the camp fire and the artist decorating her bedroom at the start. The colour of the video is so important, at the start there is not but but as the song progresses so does the video and the colour of it. By the end the animation and the colour is so bright it brings you to believe how much the artist loves her life 'oh life I love you'

The editing is key in this as it is in 'her morning elegance' the stop start animation is yet another key factor in this video as it is used constantly the whole way through except the chorus'. The chorus using the cross cutting editing technique to from the animated fairytale like video to reality.
